Ah, yet another NAKED palette.
So I love golds, and I love rosey colors, so of course I love rose golds, only seems natural right? So when I heard about the NAKED3 palette I was super excited to pick it up and order it. I managed to curb my excitement a bit and skip the first two release from Urban Decay and instead ordered it off of Sephora.com as soon as it became available.
This is probably the only NAKED palette I legitimately like. NAKED1 I had, was unimpressed with, so took it back and NAKED2 just didn't catch my eye at all. I don't hide the fact that I will recommend the Lorac Pro Palettes over the NAKEDs any given day. But enough with the personal stuff, on to the review and swatches!
Now the box of the NAKED3 itself is gorgeous, the casing on the other hand I'm really 'eh' oh. The metal is great for travel as I think it'll be a little more resistant to ware and fading like the first NAKD, and the inserts on the inside for opening and closing make it seem like it's going to be much harder to open up in your bag, which is a plus. But it does look like it got run over by a big rig...Anyway, like the other NAKED palettes this one did come with a brush, and as an extra goody it came with a sample pack of all of the UD primers.

Now on to the colors!
I will go ahead and admit that I hate doing arm swatches with a passion. So I did arm swatches and eye swatches. My eyes were not happy with me after the eye swatches at all. ;_; I was going to do a look with the palette after I swatched everything but that's going to have to wait until tomorrow so sorry everyone! But I am happy to report the colors are really pretty, but most do need a primer to be vibrant and I would even say a white eyeshadow base to bring out their true potential.
With all the pictures my right eye has no primer while my left eye has the UD primer in Original on it. For color reference purposes I am a 1R13 on the Sephora Color IQ scale.

From Right to Left (These are also with no primer): Strange, Dust, Burnout, Limit, Buzz, Trick, Nooner, Liar, Factory, Mugshot, Darkside, and Blackheart.
I know some people were really worried about the colors being ashy on darker skin, but I don't think they're too bad, with the exception of Strange. If I put that all over my lid I'd look like a nut job. :D

Strange: Pale neutral pink matte-satin. Allow me to say that while the color doesn't look to hot on me, it goes on SUPER SMOOTHLY. Let me reemphasize that: SUPER SMOOTHLY. I don't wear matte shadows to often but most of the ones I have don't feel as good as this one does going on. I'm happy too report that all the matte shadows in this palette are buttery smooth. Plus, even without the primer it still looks really pigmented.
Dust: Pale metallic pink shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter. Erm. Yeah. No. One word for this shade: Fallout. Wait, I can make it two: Fallout city. I did not enjoy putting this on my eyes at all. Maybe when I swatch this over a color base it will be better but by itself it just looks like straight glitter and with the primer under it looks like the pink made an attempt to show up, but was overrun by glitter fairies.
Burnout: Light pinky-peach satin. Went on a heck of a lot better then Dust did, but then again, pretty much all the colors in this palette did. Anyway, Burnout is a really pretty color, I like it! It doesn't feel as great as Strange while going on, but it does't make you wince either.
Limit: Light dusty rose matte. Remember the words SUPER SMOOTHLY? Well, they're back again. Limit like the other matte shade in the palette, went on like butter. And the color actually isn't as bad as I thought it would be online. Put some gold in the inner corner, a nice purple or brown in the outer and I think it be a pretty combo...May have to try that later....
Buzz: Metallic rose shimmer w/silver micro-glitter. It actually applied pretty well without the primer, the color shows a bit more with, but it's not terrible without.
Trick: Light metallic pinky-copper shimmer w/tonal micro-sparkle.This color is ok, it's pretty, but it didn't really WOW me. I will say the light you view these shadows in does make a difference because I soooo thought this was a gold when I opened my palette. Went out into natural light and nope, it was pink. Or that's just my sense of colors going bonkers. Who knows.
Nooner: Medium pinky-brown matte. I personally am not sure what I would use this shadow for, but it applied smoothly. I think it may be my least favorite color in the palette other the Dust (because that takes the top spot) just because I can't do much with it. But who knows, that may change once I play with it.
Liar: Medium metallic mauve shimmer. I would think UD would do like a purple or a green with the name Liar, but I guess not. Anyway! The color is ok, again, not one of my wow colors but it went on smoothly so I can't complain.
Factory: Pinky-brown satin. I have no idea why my text saved as black instead of white...Anyway, while this color is a little dark and close to my tone [makes me think my eyes are discolored...] I'd still wear it! I like the color a lot for some reason. Like the others, it went on nicely, even without a primer it showed up nicely.
Mugshot: Metallic taupe shimmer w/slight pink shift. Again, doesn't look to shabby without the primer. But it's another one of those shades that goes on my 'not my favorite' list. With a white base under it though I think it'll make a HUGE difference as I see potential in it.
Darkside: Deep taupe-mauve satin. I've been looking for a nice taupe-y shade for fall and I think I found it! I like this color a lot on me actually. I don't even mind the mauve undertone (but probably because it makes it look a little purple, which is probably attracting me to it).
Blackheart: Smoky black matte w/rosy red micro-sparkle. The microsparkle doesn't show up really well with my camera [or because I was losing daylight >.>;] but it actually makes this color really pretty and unusual. I haven't seen a color with red micro anything before, heck, it's hard enough to find reds. But I do like the color a lot, I foresee a lot of picutres on instagram using this for a smokey eye in the future (assuming they aren't already there).
So there you have it ladies and gents, the entirety of NAKED3 swatched on darker skin. I was a little worried about the matte shades on me, but they aren't to bad. Over all the palette is one I don't regret buying and I don't see myself taking back. Some of the colors are more pigmented then others yes, but over all it's a great buy. I do hope though that in the future UD create a palette with more purples instead of pinks as I would be all over that like butter on rice.
Would recommend to a friend: Yes
Favorite Colors: Darkside, Buzz, and Burnout
Least Favorite Color: Dust [FALLOUT CITY I TELL YOU]
Until next time,
xoxo
